There's no place like Lake of the Pines, California on July 4th!

To me, July 4th is a holiday that's built for small-town, family-oriented celebrations. I have been lucky enough to live in Lake of Pines in Nevada County, California for the past 20 years, where the fourth of July is --- shall we say --- a VERY big deal.

Every year our community puts on an incredible lineup of events that draw in distant family members looking to be a part of the fun.  

This year, with the 4th on a Thursday, we've spread the activities over almost the entire week!

Sunday, June 30 kicks off our festivities with a splash! The Waterski club puts on a spectacular Water Ski Show in the morning. And st noon, we have the SAC Lake Swim. Our lake is just over 1.1 miles long - and this fun swim event brings in all ages and abilities, with plenty of support from swim angels on paddleboards and nearby boats.

Tuesday, July 2 is all about the kids. At 10:15 AM, we have a Kid’s Bike Parade. Kids are invited to decorate their bike or scooter and compete for prizes and a chance to  ride in the Pinesmen 4th of July Parade!

Wednesday, July 3 brings a magical evening with the Light Up Boat Parade at 9:15 PM. Participants decorate their boats and travel counter-clockwise around the lake, creating a dazzling display of lights on the water. It’s a fun display of community creativity!

On Thursday, July 4, we’ve got a full day of festivities lined up.  From 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM, The main beach area parking lot gets transformed into Carnival with games for all ages, cakewalk, plus lots of food and drinks at the Pinesmen BBQ. Later the fun continues with Music on the Lake, this year featuring the Kenny Frye Band with a BBQ Buffet in the clubhouse. And to cap off the day, we have the Fireworks Show over the lake. Trust me, it’s the perfect way to celebrate Independence Day!

But it's not over! Friday, July 5 ends our week of festivities with the Light-Up Golf Cart Parade. It’s a unique and fun way to wrap up the celebrations.
